Earthstone Clays Direct 2026

We specialise in supplying clay at an economic price by delivering direct from the sliphouse any quantity, and type of clay, from one manufacturer - so long as at least one of them is 250 kg - Valentines and Earthstone are one manufacturer:-

• The prices are for each individual clay including delivered to Areas Local, 1 and 2 - additional charges apply to other areas.
• Mixed Clay Discounts are available for putting more than one 250+kg of clay on a pallet.
• We can also put additional smaller quantities of any clay from the same manufacturer on to a pallet, though there may be an additional freight charge if it changes the pallet from a quarter to half tonne or from half to full tonne freight charge to us.
• Deliveries are by a pallet network tail lift vehicle - the driver is not one of our staff and will not usually carry the clay or be able to help move the pallet more than a few feet and then only if on a totally flat surface - they cannot lift the pallet over kerbs or up slopes. If you need clay delivering “by hand” from a man in a van then we might know someone in your area. IF YOU REQUIRE A SMALL TAIL LIFT VEHICLE MAX IS 750KG

The tables below give details of Valentine and Earthstone Clays:-

• a) Texture 1 = very smooth, 10 = very coarse - for comparison find a clay you already know and check its texture rating
• % Loss is the amount of contraction at 1100oC for Earthenware and 1200oC for Stoneware
• Stock Item - is it normally a stock item in Doncaster and Exeter - we can order the odd bag for you of any Valentine clay
• Prices include delivery to Areas Local, 1 & 2 (most of the population) but need VAT to be added - please see Delivery ChargesORDERING for Area Postcodes. Area 3 add £6 per pallet, Area 4 add £12 per pallet, for Area 5 add £15 per pallet, Area 6A add £35 per pallet, for Area B/C add £40 per pallet, and for Area 7 and above please ask for a specific quote.
• Mixed Clay Discounts - if you take more than one clay at 250kg+ from one manufacturer please deduct £15 + VAT off each clay i.e. 250kg of VC1D and 250kg of VC2D would mean you can deduct £30 + VAT.
• If low glaze firing stoneware for decorative ware - 1120oC - please high bisque fire to 1100oC - 1140oC the same as if you are bisque firing earthenware clays.

The Earthstone Professional range of clays have been developed by Alan at Valentine (the sliphouse) and David at Scarva (Earthstone) to meet the needs of a specific professional potter - some have been named after the potter involved and some have preferred not to be named.

The Earthstone Paper Clays include finely chopped fibres of flax and cellulose which helps to produce very forgiving clay bodies offering potters

 a wide range of making options. Suitable for raku, oxidation, salt and soda. It is a strong, flexible lightweight clay with virtually no mould growth in comparison to other makes. The greenware re-wets easily allowing re-work, altering and adding new clay at any stage of dryness.

Greenware even bone dry is unbelievably strong and easy to handle and transport.
